Illuminations: The Art of Personal Prayer-Books

Saturday, September 22 , 9:15AM-4:00PM

Drawing from the traditions of illuminated medieval texts, the Torah, spiritual painting, and poetry, we’ll experiment with mixed media to carry the concept of Prayer-Book to new realms. With plenty of hands-on time to create, we will begin our own Prayer-Books for spiritual practice and inner reflection, deepening the idea of art as an expression of God within.

Register by prior Friday;  $75 ($60 +$15 materials);  Bring a sack lunch, a blank bound book (spiral or other binding is fine too). We encourage you to bring: any favorite tools for cutting, adhering and measuring; personal photos; blessings and prayers of meaning to you; ephemera …. Please feel free to contact instructors beforehand if you have questions. (Minimum 6)
