It’s magical, this question at the heart of this retreat and so central to our journey in Benedictine Spirituality. It’s the question we are asked and the question we answer when make our Oblation—when we promise to live Benedictine Spirituality in our everyday life, when we enter into communion with St. Placid Priory. It’s a life-changing question to ponder in a life-changing context. We each answer personally, as Oblate candidates, when asked of us by the Prioress in the Oblation ritual on Foundation Day on June 28. And as oblates, Foundation Day is not only a yearly ritual of renewing our promise to live Benedictine Spirituality, it is an invitation to reflect on our original answer to and ponder again that question: What do you seek?
